Kul Tiras – A brief excursion into the history and geography of the nation of the seas.

The release of Battle for Azeroth is already upon us, and therefore the audience will be replenished with newcomers. Many people like the World of Warcraft universe, but the amount of lore and stories it contains is not for everyone. Today I present to you a brief historical and geographical brochure that will give you a rough idea of the setting of the plot of the new addon.
So let’s get started.

Our setting today will be the Kingdom of Kul Tiras, also known as the Admiralty of Kul Tiras – a state of people located on the islands of the same name. During the Second War, the seafaring nation joined other human nations in the alliance known as the Alliance of Lordaeron, and the island’s commander, Lord Admiral Daelin Proudmoore, was named Grand Admiral of the Alliance.

After the Third War, the seafaring nation fell into shadow due to the death of Daelin in the Horde’s attack on the city of Theramore. The state of the state remained a secret until the events of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. The hour is near when we can reveal the secrets of a nation of sailors.

Dust lay in dense layers in the corridors of the library. “I don’t remember the last time such a voluminous report was requested…” The old caretaker, sitting at his desk, stirred through piles of scrolls taken from the shelves of old racks. “Well, apparently King Rynn is up to something serious…” The caretaker took out a pen and ink and began the census. He had to read and extract the most important facts from dozens of scrolls and books. Work doesn’t wait.

In the year 2,700 before the opening of the Dark Portal, after the Troll Wars, the human kingdom of Arathor was actively expanding. The people who settled in the coastal regions now known as Gilneas established several well-fortified harbors. This move allowed them to actively explore the nearby seas.

The most daring sailors, after some https://casinodonbet.co.uk/bonus/ time, discovered a large island in the south, rich in ore and natural resources. Those who decided to stay on the island founded a powerful naval outpost called “Kul Tiras.” Decades passed, and Kul Tiras grew and developed its own culture.

The people who arrived on Kul Tiras were not its first inhabitants. They met an indigenous people called "Drastas". Despite the peaceful intentions of the people and proposals for mutually beneficial coexistence, the large and powerful race did not give the guests the warmest welcome, and regularly raided settlements even after many years of cohabitation. In order to repel the attacks of the Drusts, the Order of Burning Embers was founded by people.

One of the Drusts’ creations

After years of confrontation and conflict, Colonel Arom of House Waycrest decided to put an end to the bloodshed by defeating the Drust once and for all. He organized the final attack on the Drusts and their capital Gol Osgir. Arom personally fought the Drust leader, Gorak Tul, and inflicted a crushing defeat on him.

Without leadership, the armies and constructs of the Drast King fell at once. Thanks to this victory, Arom was given the title of Lord and became the patriarch of House Waycrest. With the Kul Tirans gaining full control of the island, the nation enjoyed prosperity.

The island bastion of Kul Tiras continued its development in the traditional direction of trade and maritime cargo transportation. The city-state’s vaunted fleet proved to be the largest in all of Arathor.

An armada of merchant ships crossed the seas, and the bravest of captains explored the shores of the Eastern Kingdoms, returning with exotic goods and stories of mysterious lands in the distant corners of the continent.

The shipping and fishing economy of Kul Tiras has eclipsed the sea power of its northern neighbor, Gilneas. Unable to compete with the burgeoning fleet of Kul Tiras, the rulers of Gilneas focused the country’s forces on building up land armies and opening overland trade routes.

“Okay, that’s enough history for today. If my memory serves me correctly, the request also included a geographical summary.” The caretaker unrolled a large scroll, which turned out to be a map. "and this might interest the young King. "He took out a blank parchment and began copying.

Tiragarde Sound

Tiragarde Sound – center of the island. It represents the intersection of canals leading to the capital of Kul Tiras – Boralus. In the north and south of the coast, among the rocks and hills, a variety of wild animals live, and local residents fish along the entire coastline. Here everyone feels at home – both on land and at sea. The entire region is perfectly protected. Not a single pirate would dare to penetrate the reinforced locks of Boralus, and the city itself is lined with enough cannons to sink dozens of ships. During the Alliance-Horde war, the region served as the main naval transit point for the fleet, as well as the main base of command.

Boralus is the patrimony of House Proudmoore, and therefore one cannot count on a warm welcome. The Kul Tirans still harbor resentment over the tragic death of Admiral Daelin. It is unknown what the Alliance has to offer Kul Tiras, but their fleet is a formidable force, even years later. Their support will be indispensable.
