Psychology is a complex and extremely effective science if you master its subtleties well. The selfless main character throws himself into the abyss of the plot, like a real lifeguard on the beach, and gradually rises higher and higher, taking turns taking his “wheels” from smaller cones. If you haven’t hit the bright memories yet, it means you either missed Most Wanted, or I extremely poorly reproduced the meaning of a brilliant story that is not the first freshness.
But after the first trip, nostalgia will take over you completely. The game is simply overflowing with recognizable elements. But this is by no means a compliment, because we are not talking about references to past games that are dear to the heart of every old gamer, but about stolen spare parts assembled into a single “go ahead” mechanism with a chisel and fork. The plot, presented through a scanty and ragged likeness of videos, came to visit from the first Underground, a huge city illuminated by lanterns and billboards – from the second, new competitions and areas of the city that open with the completion of certain races – from the same place, from NFS.
A separate and detailed discussion should be devoted to the routes. I understand that it’s weird to blame developers for the fact that the tracks in racing toys are somewhat similar to each other. This is quite normal, since the road is the road. However, in L.A. Rush your attention will not be occupied by the races, but by the search for pieces of tracks that you have already had the good fortune to see somewhere. One gets the bad impression that Midway Studios Newcastle took a selection of the most successful roads created by game designers and, armed with scissors, quickly cut out templates for themselves.
But Los Angeles does not deserve any complaints. The city is really huge, although, of course, much smaller than the original. There is room for a daredevil racer to roam.

I’m glad that the developers haven’t forgotten about what all “races” are actually bought for – about cars. There are plenty of them here, good and different, and most importantly – licensed. Crashing a nameless road of unknown origin is not at all like crashing into an opponent in some Subaru Impreza.
What is street racing without total tuning?? Very mediocre, I guess L.A. Rush, For example. Yes, yes, here we are forbidden to customize the appearance of the car to suit ourselves. Instead, the West Coast Customs workshops have prepared a set of “skins” and body kits, and, believe it or not, it is not you who choose the appropriate “skin” for your car, but the workshop staff. Sad.

Unearthly beauties.

The game’s graphics engine has already received unkind words from us. We’ll have to kick it again, due to the complete inconsistency of the standards of 2006 and its pitiful capabilities. Lighting? I really want to say “mediocre,” but that would be fundamentally wrong, because there is basically no lighting. Just one example: headlights no light. Chrome surfaces with crazy reflections and stunning highlights? Not on your nelly. Cars are dull boxes, painted with matte paint right up to the glass. Damage details? Well, if scatterings of triangles, squares and other “particles” during a collision and a network of cracks on the glass, similar to those that some caring owners stick on so as not to steal the iron horse, can be considered detailing, then, probably, yes.
Physics is just as terrible. Cars don’t listen to the steering wheel, they drive off the road on their own initiative, and deep controlled drifts are unheard of here. Newton would be very upset.

Final comments:

L.A. Rush is a mediocre, boring and ugly game. Gentlemen, developers, we tearfully ask you to stop endlessly milking the topic of street racing. Oddly enough, a worthy product in the appropriate surroundings can only be made if you have remarkable talent. And talent is a real shortage in our difficult times.

Plot: Well, by God, can you really call a parable about stolen cars a plot??
Graphics: Exceptionally bad. Some shortcomings can still be attributed to the console legacy, but only the developers are responsible for the overall disastrous level.
Sound and music: Nothing outstanding, they play a background role.
